AB de Villiers Suggests Four Players RCB Should Target in IPL 2025 Auction, Leaves Out Mohammed Siraj
“Imagine if we get the twin spins from RR (Rajasthan Royals) at RCB,” he said, envisioning a strong spin partnership. Rabada, a star pacer from South Africa, was also high on his list, with de Villiers hoping RCB could secure him for a formidable bowling attack.
Former RCB legend AB de Villiers has shared his picks for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, focusing on players he believes could help the franchise finally secure an elusive IPL title. With a hefty auction purse of INR 83 crore, de Villiers feels RCB has a strong chance to revamp their squad for success and even advised bringing back a familiar face.
One of his top recommendations was for RCB to re-sign former team member Yuzvendra Chahal. “Let's stop messing around. Let's get Yuzi back in RCB where he belongs. He should never have left,” de Villiers passionately remarked on his YouTube channel. Chahal, a seasoned leg-spinner and fan favorite, was a key part of RCB’s bowling lineup in previous seasons.
Besides Chahal, de Villiers named three other priority players: Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He praised Ashwin’s vast experience and his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. “Imagine if we get the twin spins from RR (Rajasthan Royals) at RCB,” he said, envisioning a strong spin partnership. Rabada, a star pacer from South Africa, was also high on his list, with de Villiers hoping RCB could secure him for a formidable bowling attack.
De Villiers emphasized that securing these four players—Chahal, Rabada, Bhuvneshwar, and Ashwin—could make a tournament-winning bowling lineup. As a backup plan, he suggested targeting Mohammed Shami or Arshdeep Singh if Rabada isn’t available.
Interestingly, RCB’s current star pacer, Mohammed Siraj, was notably absent from de Villiers’ recommendations, indicating a potential shift in focus for the team’s strategy. RCB will enter the auction with three Right to Match (RTM) cards and an INR 83 crore budget, with Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal as their retained players. The IPL 2025 mega auction is scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah.
