Amar Hussain Lone, a para-cricketer of Jammu and Kashmir, is always the epitome of resilience. The cricket academy he wanted to form in his hometown Waghama-Bijbehara, in Anantnag, has finally come to be a reality due to support by the Adani Group headed by its chairperson Gautam Adani. The indoor cricket academy will now throw open doors to talented underprivileged children dreaming to shine in sports, courtesy of Adani Foundation's munificent contribution of ₹67.6 lakh.

Untold story of unparalleled persistence: the story of Amir, the captain of the Jammu and Kashmir para-cricket team, who has been playing professional cricket since 2013. At the age of eight, he suffered a life-altering accident at his father's sawmill by losing both his arms. However, he never gave up, and it led him to discover a new style of play in which he used his shoulder and neck to hold the bat and bowling spin deliveries with the help of his toes.

A Vision to Empower Young Talents

The idea of building a cricket academy is based on past experience of Amir. He remembers how his childhood was as he says, "I did not have even money to buy a bat. I saw similar struggle in many youngsters around me that inspired me to create space to train kids like me in free coaching.".

The academy now trains 30 young players. But with this indoor stadium, there's an immense capacity for it. This effort has started gifting talent to both para-athletes as well as able-bodied talent. This facility will obviously act as a source of hope, giving a proper, integrated opportunity for younger cricketers to refine their skills.
