Andrew McDonald to Remain as Australia’s Head Coach Until 2027
Nick Hockley, the CEO of Cricket Australia, praised McDonald’s contributions, stating, “Andrew has proven to be an outstanding men's head coach who, in addition to delivering exceptional results, has built a strong coaching team and an excellent environment for the team to perform at its best. We are delighted to extend his tenure for a further two years.”
Cricket Australia has confirmed that Andrew McDonald will continue as the head coach of the Australian Men's team until the end of 2027. McDonald, who assumed the role in 2022, has led Australia to significant achievements, including the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup in 2023. Under his leadership, the team currently holds the No. 1 ranking in Test cricket and is positioned No. 2 in both ODI and T20 formats.
With this contract extension, McDonald will guide the team through the next cycle of the World Test Championship and will have the opportunity to defend their ODI World Cup title in 2027. He will also prepare the squad for the upcoming 2026 ICC T20 World Cup and next year’s Champion’s Trophy.
