Arteta Provides Update on Odegaard’s Recovery Ahead of Key Matches
“Today is crucial,” Arteta remarked, referring to the final training session. He mentioned that Odegaard had not trained during the week, but depending on his performance in the session, there might be a chance for him to join the squad for the trip to Milan.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on the recovery of captain Martin Odegaard, who has been sidelined for nearly two months due to an ankle injury. Speaking at a press conference on November 1, 2024, Arteta confirmed that while Odegaard will not feature in the upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United, he could potentially be available for the Champions League match against Inter Milan next Wednesday.
Arteta emphasized that the team's captain is now in the final stages of his rehabilitation. “It’s good news on Martin,” he stated, noting that Odegaard is beginning to engage in specific training activities as he progresses toward full fitness. However, he cautioned that Odegaard's participation against Newcastle is off the table.

In addition to Odegaard, Arteta addressed the fitness of other players, confirming that summer signing Riccardo Calafiori remains out, and Ben White's status is uncertain due to limited training. Takehiro Tomiyasu is not expected to return before the upcoming international break.
Arteta acknowledged the challenges posed by injuries this season but praised the team's adaptability and competitive spirit. He expressed confidence in the squad’s depth, saying that they have shown an incredible capacity to perform against opponents despite the setbacks.
Regarding Odegaard’s return, Arteta expressed optimism: “If he can manage the pain and his movements are natural, I would be surprised if he doesn’t look ready to compete once he starts training with us again. We hope to see him back soon.”
As Arsenal prepares for critical fixtures in both the Premier League and Champions League, Odegaard’s return would provide a significant boost to the squad.
