Indian off-spinner Deepti Sharma has reached a career-best ranking, climbing to second place in the ICC Women's ODI Bowler Rankings. This leap is largely due to her consistent performances in the ongoing series against New Zealand and her strong display in the recent ICC Women's T20 World Cup held in the UAE. In the first two ODIs against New Zealand, Deepti took three wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 3.42, proving crucial in India's bowling lineup. This rise places her just behind England's Sophie Ecclestone, who retains the top position in the rankings.
Deepti’s ascension also highlights her role as one of India’s standout players, not only with the ball but as an all-round contributor. Beyond her bowling achievements, she has improved to third in the all-rounder rankings. Meanwhile, the ranking changes aren’t limited to her alone. Jemimah Rodrigues, another key player for India, moved up three places to rank 30th among ODI batters.
Internationally, New Zealand players also saw ranking improvements. Spinner Lea Tahuhu climbed three spots to reach 12th among ODI bowlers, while all-rounders Amelie Kerr and Sophie Devine advanced in both bowling and batting categories. Devine moved up three places to eighth in the batting list, while Kerr reached 11th. Suzie Bates and Maddy Green from New Zealand also saw gains, reaching 15th and 18th in the ODI batter rankings, respectively.
Zimbabwe’s players are also making strides. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and Josephine Nkomo have shown remarkable progress after strong performances in their recent ODI series against the USA. Mugeri-Tiripano gained 21 places, moving up to 28th in the batter rankings, while Nkomo improved by 13 spots to reach 32nd among ODI bowlers.
Overall, these rankings showcase Deepti Sharma's exceptional form and reflect the ongoing competitive performances across the global stage in women's cricket.
