Livingstone, who was the second-highest run-scorer for England with 178 runs at a strike rate of 120.27, noted that while the result was not what they had hoped for, there were positive takeaways.
England's skipper, Liam Livingstone, reflected on his team's defeat in the ODI series against West Indies, admitting the series loss was disappointing but highlighting the valuable lessons learned. After West Indies secured an eight-wicket win in the third ODI at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, they clinched the series 2-1.
Livingstone, who was the second-highest run-scorer for England with 178 runs at a strike rate of 120.27, noted that while the result was not what they had hoped for, there were positive takeaways. "It was a disappointing end to the series, but there were good moments for us," said Livingstone in the post-match presentation. He emphasized that there were numerous lessons and experiences for the team, particularly with many players missing due to injuries, and new players stepping up for England. "A lot to learn from this series, and a lot of the new players will gain valuable experience from it," he added.
Recapping the final match, West Indies, having won the toss, decided to field first. England's Phil Salt provided a solid start, but their middle order struggled, and they managed to score only 263/8 in their 50 overs. West Indies' Matthew Forde was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 35 runs.
In response, Brandon King and Keacy Carty anchored the chase, leading West Indies to victory with an eight-wicket win. England's bowlers struggled to defend the total, with only Reece Topley and Jamie Overton managing to take wickets.
The loss marks a disappointing end to the series for England, but Livingstone remains focused on the positive outcomes and the growth that the team can take from the experience.
