"Felt As Long As I Am Playing, We Won't Lose Series In India": Ravindra Jadeja Reflects on Historic Loss
Jadeja acknowledged the harsh reality that cricket can be a great leveler, and this experience against the Black Caps has reshaped his perspective. "We won 18 series (at home), I thought as long as I am playing Test cricket in India we won't lose a series, but that has happened, so I am not surprised with anything (that is happening)," he reflected.
Ravindra Jadeja's emotions ran deep as he confronted the reality of India's recent Test series loss at home to New Zealand—a feat that marked the end of a 12-year unbeaten run in series played on Indian soil. Having made his Test debut the last time India suffered such a defeat, Jadeja expressed a profound sense of invincibility that had accompanied him throughout his journey in 77 Test matches.
Following his impressive performance that included a remarkable 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, Jadeja shared his thoughts on the unexpected turn of events. "Firstly, I had this fear... personally I had thought that I won't lose a series in India as long as I am playing. But that too has happened," he admitted after the opening day of the third Test.

The all-rounder noted the high expectations that have surrounded the Indian team due to their previous successes. "Since the last 12 years, we did not lose a single series. I think we have lost a total of five Test matches in which I played. I think this is a good achievement, but when you set such high expectations and lose a series, it stands out, and that is what is happening."
Emphasizing a team mentality, Jadeja remarked on the collective responsibility of the players following the series defeat. "When we win, we lift the trophy together. Now that we have lost the series, all 15 in the team will take the blame collectively," he stated, highlighting the unity and shared accountability within the squad.
As India navigates this challenging moment, Jadeja’s insights reflect a deep understanding of the game's unpredictability and the resilience needed to rebound from adversity.
