Harbhajan Singh's Picks for KKR's IPL 2025 Retention List
Harbhajan emphasized retaining skipper Shreyas Iyer, adding three overseas players to his list: Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. He was also insistent on keeping young Indian talent Rinku Singh, praising him as one of India’s top finishers.
As the IPL 2025 retention deadline nears, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) face tough decisions with a cap of six player retentions. Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was part of KKR in 2021, shared his insights on which players the defending champions should keep.
Harbhajan emphasized retaining skipper Shreyas Iyer, adding three overseas players to his list: Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. He was also insistent on keeping young Indian talent Rinku Singh, praising him as one of India’s top finishers.
Harbhajan said on Star Sports, “KKR dominated the entire season, so it will be difficult for them to make retention choices. But if I have to pick six players, it would be Shreyas Iyer, Phil Salt, Narine, Russell, and Rinku Singh."
For the sixth spot, Harbhajan chose uncapped player Ramandeep Singh over a star player bound for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Citing Ramandeep’s recent strong domestic performances, Harbhajan expressed confidence in his potential, concluding, “Ramandeep should be retained. He played well last season and has impressed in domestic cricket this year.”
