Hardik Pandya and Mumbai Indians Commit Monumental DRS Blunder as Mitchell Marsh Steals the Limelight
Hardik Pandya and Mumbai Indians committed a huge DRS blunder in IPL 2025 that was in the limelight, while Mitchell Marsh took the limelight with a performance to remember.

The Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants match in the IPL 2025 was highlighted for the fans not just by the runs but also by a monumental blunder committed by Hardik Pandya and his team. The incident occurred early in the match and went viral on the internet in no time. On the fourth ball of the first over, Marsh received an inside edge that was caught by Ryan Rickelton behind the stumps. However, the Mumbai Indians did not appeal and did not opt for the DRS. This provided Mitchell Marsh with a second chance which he utilized very effectively.
Mitchell Marsh was in good touch and made maximum use of the lucky break. He continued to smash a boundary-filled 60 runs off only 31 balls. His knock consisted of nine boundaries and two massive sixes. He assisted Lucknow Super Giants in crossing the 200-run mark which made it very difficult for the Mumbai Indians. The audience was quick to flag the mistake on social media. The clip of the DRS mistake went viral online and was extremely popular in an instant.
The error was also picked up by ex-players who were commentating. Varun Aaron informed that Marsh had received a faint edge and it was evident from the replay. Mohammad Kaif also informed that there was an edge but Rickelton did not appeal and perhaps the crowd noise in the ground made it difficult to hear. It was surprising that Trent Boult also failed to feel the edge as bowlers usually get a fair idea when the ball is being struck by the bat. This DRS error proved costly to the Mumbai Indians.
Despite Hardik Pandya bowling superbly and taking his first five-wicket haul in T20 cricket it did not manage to prevent Lucknow Super Giants from setting up a huge total. He picked five key wickets such as Aiden Markram who scored 53 runs and others such as Nicholas Pooran Rishabh Pant David Miller and Akash Deep. His bowling return of 5 for 36 was great but the early error permitted LSG to get off to a quick start and build confidence.
Mitchell Marsh has been in tremendous form in IPL 2025. His fifty in this game was his third in only four games. He punished every bowler who faced him. He hit Trent Boult for a six and a four and then attacked Mitchell Santner with two additional boundaries. He also targeted Ashwani Kumar who had performed really well in the earlier game and slammed him for a six and a four in one over. That contributed to leaking 23 runs and enabled Marsh to reach his half-century in only 27 balls.
Aiden Markram also played well in support of Marsh and remained solid at one end. At the end of the powerplay LSG were already on 69 without losing a wicket. It seemed that they would easily cross a huge score. But Vignesh Puthur entered and provided a breakthrough for Mumbai Indians. He dismissed Marsh with a catch and bowl in the seventh over. That brought an end to the big opening partnership of 76 runs.
Then Hardik Pandya introduced himself into the attack and made his presence felt. He dismissed Pooran in the ninth over and then dismissed Rishabh Pant for mere two runs. Pant has been out of form in IPL 2025 and this was his fourth poor inning. He faced six balls and then got dismissed off a slower ball. The catch was caught well by stand-in fielder Corbin Bosch.
LSG were 107 for 3 when Pant was dismissed. Markram remained at the crease and ensured his team continued to move ahead. He scored his half-century and was eventually dismissed in the 18th over. His consistent innings ensured LSG reached a solid total of 203 for 8.
Despite Rohit Sharma not being able to play this game because of a knee injury Mumbai Indians gave it their all with the ball. But the initial DRS error shifted the momentum of the game. In cricket little things count and losing such a obvious edge provided LSG with a huge opportunity which they grabbed with both hands. It indicated how crucial it is to remain alert and utilize technology like DRS effectively in a match.
