"Have Bowlers Like Ajaz Patel In Every Local Club": Mohammad Kaif Ridicules NZ Star
In a video on social media, Kaif mocked the New Zealand bowler, saying, "Ajaz Patel didn't bowl well. If you see his pitch map, he delivered two full-tosses, two short balls, and two length deliveries but still managed to take wickets."
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has sparked controversy by ridiculing New Zealand's Ajaz Patel, despite the spinner's impressive performance in the 3-match Test series against India, where he was the top wicket-taker. Patel claimed 15 wickets across the three Tests, with 11 of those coming in the final Test at Wankhede, leading New Zealand to a historic 3-0 whitewash of India. However, Kaif refused to acknowledge Patel as a quality bowler, suggesting that India has bowlers of similar skill in every local club.
In a video on social media, Kaif mocked the New Zealand bowler, saying, "Ajaz Patel didn't bowl well. If you see his pitch map, he delivered two full-tosses, two short balls, and two length deliveries but still managed to take wickets." Kaif blamed the Indian team for allowing Patel to claim 11 wickets in the third Test, implying that the Indian batsmen were at fault for letting him succeed.
Kaif also took aim at New Zealand’s part-time spinner Glenn Phillips, who claimed 4 wickets in the Mumbai Test. He questioned Phillips’ bowling ability, calling him a "part-timer" who “doesn’t know how to bowl good deliveries." According to Kaif, India lost to part-timers, not quality spinners.
The only New Zealand bowler Kaif praised was Mitchell Santner, who took 11 wickets in the Pune Test before being ruled out of the final match due to injury. Kaif described Santner’s bowling in Pune as a "classic Test match performance," in stark contrast to his comments about Patel and Phillips.
