The highly anticipated IPL 2025 Player Auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The registration process for players officially closed on November 4, 2024, with a remarkable 1,574 players signing up for the auction. This includes 1,165 Indian players and 409 overseas players, with 320 players being capped (48 Indian and 272 international) and 1,224 uncapped players, including 30 players from Associate Nations.
Among the international sign-ups, players from countries like South Africa (91), Australia (76), England (52), New Zealand (39), and the West Indies (33) have shown significant interest. Interestingly, there is also one player from Italy who has signed up for the auction, marking a unique addition to the mix.
Franchises will have 204 available slots to fill in their squads, with 70 of these being reserved for overseas players. The 10 franchises collectively have approximately Rs 641.5 crore to spend. The franchises retained 46 players, spending a total of Rs 558.5 crore. Punjab Kings have the largest purse with Rs 110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals have the smallest at Rs 41 crore.
Top Indian players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh are expected to attract significant bids, making the 2025 auction one of the most exciting yet.
