Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali has been ruled out of the second Test against South Africa after suffering a concussion during practice at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The incident occurred on Sunday, and Jaker, who has a history of concussions, continued to show symptoms post-injury. As a result, Mahidul Islam Ankon has been called up as his replacement, marking his first inclusion in the national Test squad.

Mahidul, the new addition to the squad, has been in strong form, highlighted by a recent 118-run innings for Dhaka Division against Sylhet Division. The 24-year-old has played most of his first-class cricket for Dhaka Division, accumulating three centuries, and he also featured for Bangladesh A in a match against Pakistan A in August.
In addition to Jaker’s replacement, fast bowler Khaled Ahmed has been called up to substitute for Taskin Ahmed, adding further depth to the Bangladesh squad as they gear up for the second Test.
