Nasum and Nahid Set to Arrive Late in UAE Due to Visa Issues
"We have not received their visas yet, and as a result, they couldn’t travel with the team to Sharjah," Nafees said. "We're expecting to get their visas soon and hope to send them tomorrow, but until the visa is in hand, it's hard to confirm the exact date."
Bangladesh's preparations for their upcoming three-match ODI series against the UAE got off to a start on November 4 without uncapped pacer Nahid Rana and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, who are delayed due to visa complications. Both players have not yet received their visas and were unable to travel with the rest of the squad to Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that while Nasum and Nahid are expected to join the team once their visas are processed, the management had not planned to include them in the playing XI for the first ODI. BCB's cricket operation manager, Shahriar Nafees, mentioned that they were hopeful of receiving the visas by November 5 and sending the players to Sharjah shortly after.
"We have not received their visas yet, and as a result, they couldn’t travel with the team to Sharjah," Nafees said. "We're expecting to get their visas soon and hope to send them tomorrow, but until the visa is in hand, it's hard to confirm the exact date."
Despite the delay, the rest of the Bangladesh squad has been in Sharjah for a full training session in preparation for the series, which will also serve as part of their build-up for the Champions Trophy in February and March next year. The series is scheduled to begin on November 6, with additional matches on November 9 and 11.
Nasum and Nahid are currently at the BCB Academy, awaiting their visa clearance before flying to Dubai to join the squad.
