Naveen-ul-Haq Pens Emotional Message After Being Dropped by Lucknow Super Giants Ahead of IPL 2025
My best wishes will always be with everyone involved in this team in future, to the management staff and the guys who were working behind the scenes and not to forget LSG brigade. Thank you everyone.”
Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has shared a heartfelt message following his exclusion from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In October, LSG announced their retention list for the upcoming season, which included players like Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, as well as uncapped talents Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni. Unfortunately, Naveen-ul-Haq was not retained, marking the end of his two-year association with the franchise.
On Instagram, Naveen expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of LSG for two seasons and sent his best wishes to everyone connected with the team. He wrote, “Thankful for the opportunity and being part of this amazing team for the past 2 seasons. My best wishes will always be with everyone involved in this team in future, to the management staff and the guys who were working behind the scenes and not to forget LSG brigade. Thank you everyone.”
In IPL 2024, Naveen featured in 10 matches and took 14 wickets with an economy rate of 10.19. Despite his efforts, LSG finished in 7th place, securing 14 points after winning seven out of their 14 matches.
The franchise also made the big decision to part ways with skipper KL Rahul ahead of the 2025 season, signaling a strategic reshuffle as they look to retain top performers and bring in fresh talent for a stronger season. The upcoming IPL 2025 is set to be an exciting season with significant changes in team dynamics and player acquisitions, and Naveen’s message reflects the camaraderie and respect he holds for his former team.
