Perth Stadium Set to Make Ashes Debut

In a significant shift for Australian cricket, the Ashes summer will kick off at a venue other than the Gabba for the first time in over 40 years. Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday that Perth Stadium in Western Australia is slated to host its inaugural Ashes Test when England tours for the first Test of the 2025-26 summer.

Perth Stadium will join an exclusive list, becoming only the eighth location to host an Ashes match in Australia. The highly anticipated first Test is set to commence on November 21, 2025. Historically, England has had limited success in Perth, managing to secure victory in only one Ashes Test at this venue.

Following the opening match in Perth, the series will continue with a day-night Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, starting on December 4. This will mark Brisbane's third day-night Test for men, with previous matches held against Pakistan in 2016 and Sri Lanka in 2019.

The 2025-26 Ashes series will include a total of five Tests, with the third Test scheduled to take place at the iconic Adelaide Oval. After that, the action will shift to the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the traditional Boxing Day Test, followed by the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
