Phil Salt Confirmed as England's Wicketkeeper for T20I Series Against West Indies
Salt, who has kept wicket in a few recent England matches, expressed his enjoyment of the role. “It’s not something I’ve done a lot for England recently, but I enjoy keeping. I feel like that’s where I offer most to the side,” Salt said in an interview ahead of the third ODI against the West Indies in Barbados.
Phil Salt will continue as wicketkeeper for England in their upcoming T20I series against the West Indies, despite the return of regular captain Jos Buttler, who has recovered from a calf injury. Buttler had missed England's limited-overs series against Australia, where Salt and Harry Brook stepped up as captains for the T20I and ODI formats, respectively.

Although Buttler is back in training at Kensington Oval, he will not be available for selection for the third ODI but will resume his captaincy for the five-match T20I series. This will be Buttler’s first appearance since England’s semi-final exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup in June.
In the first two ODIs of the series against the West Indies, Salt has impressed with the bat, scoring 77 runs at a strike rate of 87.50. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with the West Indies winning the first match and England taking the second. The third ODI will be played on Wednesday at Kensington Oval.
The T20I series kicks off on November 9 with the first two matches at Kensington Oval, followed by three more games at Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia on November 14, 16, and 17.
