Rebecca Duckworth Signs Two-Year Contract with Yorkshire County Cricket Club

Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) has announced the signing of promising cricketer Rebecca Duckworth on a two-year contract. At just 24 years old, Duckworth has built an impressive resume, having played senior regional cricket for five years with the Northern Diamonds and Lancashire Thunder.

Originally from Preston, Duckworth began her county cricket career with Lancashire, debuting in 2017 after rising through the ranks of the Red Rose age-group teams. Ahead of the 2023 season, she made the move to the Northern Diamonds, where she concluded the recent summer with an outstanding performance—scoring 51 runs while batting at number three in a thrilling 50-over victory against the Southern Vipers at Headingley.

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining YCCC, Duckworth stated, “I’m very excited and proud to have signed for Yorkshire. It’s a big step in my career, and I’m looking forward to joining up with the team.” She added, “I’ve absolutely loved my time at Headingley so far and I’m pleased I can finally put my full commitment into cricket and give it everything. Being at a club like Yorkshire, where I’ll be surrounded by amazing staff and coaches, as well as some of the best players out there, I feel that I have everything I need to fulfil my potential.”

Duckworth recently completed her university studies, graduating with a Sports Science degree from Liverpool John Moores University, followed by a Master's degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. She expressed her eagerness to contribute to Yorkshire's success, saying, “It’s an exciting time in the women’s game, and I’m desperate to contribute to Yorkshire success. I’m really looking forward to playing consistently, playing how I want to play—which is scoring runs in an aggressive manner—and ultimately winning games.”

Rich Pyrah, head coach of Yorkshire Women, praised Duckworth’s talent: “Rebecca is an exciting young talent, and we’re thrilled to have her join us. She showed last year that she can score runs when it matters, and we feel she has a lot of potential. We’re excited for Rebecca to come to Yorkshire to learn and grow as a player, and we’re looking forward to starting to work with her.”

Yorkshire Cricket extends a warm welcome to Rebecca Duckworth and wishes her the best of luck with the Yorkshire Women’s team.
