Bangladesh’s newly appointed senior assistant coach, Mohammad Salahuddin, is determined to create a pathway for local coaches to make it to the national team. In the past, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been hesitant to give major roles to local coaches, but under the new BCB president, Faruque Ahmed, this has changed. Salahuddin has been appointed for a stint running until March 15, and his role will begin with Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies, starting with a four-day warm-up match in Antigua.
Salahuddin, with over two decades of coaching experience and an ACC-Cricket Australia Level 3 accreditation, has previously worked with the national team as an assistant coach and fielding coach. He also served at the BCB National Cricket Academy. Reflecting on his new role, Salahuddin stated that his primary challenge as a coach would be to inspire players to believe they can dominate world cricket in the future. He emphasized the importance of both technical and mental growth, noting that while players often aim to reach the national team, they often struggle to set further goals once they get there.
Salahuddin is also keen on creating opportunities for local coaches, an initiative that he hopes will be furthered under his guidance. He acknowledged the ongoing discussions about forming a platform for local coaches and expressed his hope that his role will help build trust in local coaching capabilities, thereby boosting the confidence of the coaching community and the nation.

Salahuddin aims to utilize his experience to mentor the next generation of players, helping them improve not just technically, but mentally and tactically as well.
