Shreyas Iyer's Sister Shut Down Trolls Following PBKS Defeat vs RCB

Sports can be an emotional thing but sometimes even fans go too far particularly on social media. Following Punjab Kings' defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the recent IPL match Shreyas Iyer's sister Shresta was subjected to some rude comments online. PBKS had defeated RCB in a previous match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium but in the return match on April 20 everything did not go according to plan. PBKS were under pressure and could not do anything with the bat from Shreyas Iyer. Therefore, many upset fans began blaming him for the loss and even included his sister in the blame.

Shresta who had always been a supportive sister herself finally voiced out. She voiced her disappointment in a firm message she put on her Instagram story.
She indicated that it was so painful to see people blaming her and her family simply because they were supporting their loved one. In her opinion whether they are at the stadium or cheering from home their love for the team does not change. She condemned the trolls for speaking from behind the screens and labeled their negative behavior as not only incorrect but shameful too. She did not forget to remind people that she stood with her brother and the team through numerous games and many of those resulted in victories.

The game that was all the hullabaloo Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli played stunningly to let RCB have its revenge through a comfortable seven-wicket victory. The win helped Bengaluru maintain their all-away-win streak and propelled them into the top four on the table.
158 runs were easily chased in only 18.5 overs. Padikkal was in wonderful form and had scored 61 runs from a mere 35 balls. This was his maiden IPL half-century in 22 innings and he had played all through with elegance and confidence. Kohli stood by him well and was not out with 73 runs from 54 balls demonstrating yet again why he is such a dependable player in chases.

The stand between Padikkal and Kohli was solid as they scored 103 runs in a little over 11 overs.
Kohli began the innings with some vintage shots like a stylish pull shot off Arshdeep Singh and a back-drive off Xavier Bartlett. Padikkal, on the contrary, struck both fours and sixes with precision and demonstrated fantastic control and timing. The run between the wickets was snappy as well and at a certain point, Kohli even prompted Padikkal to take four runs in one play that reflected their immense energy and excellent understanding.

Padikkal was finally dismissed attempting to play his fifth six off Harpreet Brar but by then RCB had already gained strong control of the game. Kohli kept scoring at a consistent rate and played one of the finest shots of the match by playing a lovely inside out six off Yuzvendra Chahal.
He also managed to put a smart boundary off Arshdeep by cutting the ball past point after scoring his half-century in 42 balls.

Although the game ended on a sour note for Punjab Kings the brutal attitude online was something that ought not to have occurred.
Shresta Iyer made it evident that bullying someone's family simply because of a game is not fair and must cease. Fans tend to get emotional but let's not forget that players and their families are also human beings and are entitled to respect. Her unapologetic reply to the trolls reminded everyone that it is critical to stand up against hate particularly when it comes to defending your loved ones.

As the season of IPL goes on there will be good and bad days for players but real fans should not turn against them after one loss. Shreyas Iyer will surely look to come back in the next matches and with solid support from his family and real fans he can get over this bad moment.
