Smaran Ravichandran Replaces Adam Zampa in SRH of IPL 2025

In a recent update in the 2025 IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have signed 21-year-old left-handed batsman Smaran Ravichandran as a replacement for Adam Zampa, who has been sidelined by an unknown injury. This switch is part of the ongoing roster changes, and the transfer was confirmed by the IPL media advisory on April 14, 2025.

Karnataka's rising star Smaran Ravichandran will become a part of the SRH team at his reserve price of INR 30 lakh. With his reputation for being consistent and producing quality performances in all formats, Smaran has already impressed in domestic cricket. Having played seven first-class matches, he has aggregated over 500 runs at an average of 64.50. His most impressive performance came against Punjab when he scored a double century, which is proof of his capability as a top-order batsman.

In addition, Smaran has proved equally good at List A cricket. He has played 10 games since making his debut in 2024, scoring a total of 433 runs with an incredible average of 72.16. He has hit two centuries to further solidify his position as a solid run-scorer in the 50-over competition. His T20 performances have also been encouraging, with 170 runs from six games at a destructive strike rate of 170, demonstrating that he is versatile to the quick nature of T20 cricket.

This signing is timely for SRH, who are at present placed in the lower half of the IPL table. The side will be expecting Smaran's inclusion to introduce new vigor and solidity to the batting unit. Although the Zampa injury is regrettable, Smaran's recent form in domestic cricket might give the team the much-needed strength as it tries to get its act together in the competition.

At the same time, another replacement announcement was made by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have selected Ayush Mhatre as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. Similar to Smaran, Mhatre has been purchased at his base price of INR 30 lakh, which also adds more depth to SRH and CSK squads.

With SRH and CSK both sitting in the lower half of the table presently, these new changes may have a huge influence on their performances in the rest of the season. When teams make their lineups adapt to injuries and other issues, players such as Smaran Ravichandran and Ayush Mhatre may be important players who can turn the fortunes of their respective teams around and work towards a better spot in the table.

The IPL 2025 keeps growing day by day, and it remains to be seen how all of these fresh faces will change the current tournament. Currently, everyone will be focusing on Smaran as he joins this new challenge with SRH after bringing much domestic experience and the ability to make a massive impact in the T20 league.
