St Mirren Manager Stephen Robinson Signs Contract Extension Until 2027
Robinson stated, "I'm very happy here. We've had massive success over the last two-and-a-half seasons. I felt it was the right time to commit and hopefully keep moving in the right direction.
St Mirren’s manager, Stephen Robinson, has signed a new contract that secures his position until the summer of 2027. The 49-year-old Northern Irishman joined the club in February 2022 after a stint at Morecambe and has since led the Buddies to notable achievements, including back-to-back top-six finishes in his first two full seasons. Under his guidance, St Mirren has reached its highest league positions in nearly 40 years and qualified for European competition for the first time since 1987.
Despite recent struggles, with three consecutive defeats in the Scottish Premiership that leave the team sitting eighth in the table and just three points above the relegation zone, Robinson expressed his commitment to the club’s future. He cited St Mirren’s "good ideas and medium-term vision" as key factors in his decision to extend his contract.
Robinson stated, "I'm very happy here. We've had massive success over the last two-and-a-half seasons. I felt it was the right time to commit and hopefully keep moving in the right direction. We’ve had a few sticky results over the last few weeks where things haven’t gone our way, but we’ve got a lot of belief in the club and I’m happy to try and push the place forward."
St Mirren chairman John Needham praised Robinson's contributions, noting that he has played a vital role in the club's strategy to enhance its strength and stability. Needham emphasized that extending Robinson's contract aligns with the club's ambition to maintain the levels of success achieved in recent years.
