Taskin Ahmed Rested for Second Test Against South Africa; Khaled Ahmed Joins Squad
Bangladesh Squad for Second Test:
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that pace bowler Khaled Ahmed will replace Taskin Ahmed for the second Test against South Africa, starting on October 29 in Chattogram. Following Bangladesh's seven-wicket loss in the opening Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, the selection panel decided to rest Taskin, who has been pivotal in all formats for Bangladesh.
A selection committee member explained the decision, noting Taskin's upcoming commitment to a prolonged tour abroad, involving ODIs against Afghanistan and a full series against the West Indies. "Taskin is our all-format player, and he will be away from home for around 50 days," the selector said. "We want him to be fresh ahead of the long tour, so we decided to rest him and bring in Khaled, who could provide cover if needed."
With Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud fully fit, the addition of Khaled bolsters Bangladesh's pace options for the final Test, set to determine the series outcome.
