Tony D'Angelo Reflects on the Significance of Winning the NXT North American Title
“This one was emotional because I climbed the mountain that nobody thought I could climb,” D'Angelo shared, reflecting on the significance of the victory. He emphasized how meaningful it was to have his family and The D'Angelo Family—Channing Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino, and Adriana Rizzo—supporting him during challenging times.
Tony D'Angelo has spent the past three years establishing himself in WWE NXT, achieving significant milestones as a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion, an NXT Heritage Cup winner, and now the current NXT North American Champion. Recently, he joined "The Ringer Wrestling Show" to discuss the emotional impact of his latest title win, which saw him break Oma Femi's record-setting reign.
“Having them with me and getting me through the tough times of mentally not knowing what to do… it was a nice hurdle to get over in the career for sure,” he added.
D'Angelo made history by becoming the first NXT superstar to hold the NXT Tag Team Championship, Heritage Cup, and NXT North American Championship. When asked about his aspirations for the NXT Championship and possibly challenging Trick Williams, he responded thoughtfully. “Of course, everybody thinks about that, but you know what, I think Trick's a nice guy. He just got it back; I don't wanna take it from him right away. I'll let him hang on to it for a little bit and then we’ll re-evaluate,” he explained.
On a personal note, D'Angelo revealed how his family reacted to his title win, describing their excitement as overwhelming. “It was great. The family was... I can't explain in words how excited they were for me. It means a lot,” he expressed. “It just means I got a lot of people in my corner, and that’s a good feeling to know people got your back and want to see you succeed.”
With the support of his family and a growing legacy in NXT, D'Angelo is poised for even greater achievements as he continues to make his mark in the wrestling world.
