USA Cricket Dismisses Head Coach Stuart Law Amid Allegations of Misconduct
Law, 56, a former international coach with stints for Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Bangladesh, began his tenure with USA Cricket ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup, initially finding success with a 4-0 series win over Canada. Under his leadership, USA achieved significant milestones, including a series win over Bangladesh and an impressive T20 World Cup run, which included a historic victory over Pakistan.
USA Cricket has dismissed head coach Stuart Law, effective immediately, following the team’s crushing 10-wicket loss to Scotland. The decision to terminate Law comes just seven months after his appointment and is reportedly in response to allegations of discrimination, mistrust, and favoritism raised by captain Monank Patel and several senior players. Tensions between Law and players reportedly surfaced during the team’s tour of the Netherlands and escalated during their recent Namibia tour, prompting an official investigation by USA Cricket.
However, USA's performance has declined since, most recently suffering a T20I series loss to Nepal and Friday's 10-wicket defeat to Scotland.
In Law's absence, assistant coach Vincent Vinay Kumar will serve as interim head coach, and former USA off-spinner Usman Rafiq has been appointed assistant coach for the remaining ODIs against Nepal and Scotland.
