Vizag to Host Delhi Capitals' First Two IPL 2025 Matches-Second Home of the Team

As cricket madness keeps making new records in the country in anticipation of the 18th season of Indian Premier League (IPL), there has been ongoing speculation about the fixtures of the tournament as well. Though nothing has been announced as yet, the latest news is that Visakhapatnam, or short Vizag, is going to host two games of Delhi Capitals again. It is an addition to last year's plan, making the sea city remain the franchise's secondary home.

Vizag-IPL Cricketing Destination

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has again approved Visakhapatnam as one of the premier grounds for the coming season, but still an IPL ground. Being a cricket stadium which has already hosted IPL matches well in past seasons, the scenic Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium with its die-hard fans will again be treated to seat-of-the-pants action.

While Delhi Capitals' and very specific Vizag side's timetable has been unveiled, one is certain: the team will be starting their season from this stadium. Andhra Pradesh cricket aficionados get to see some of the most intriguing cricketing intrigue as the city gets to host some of the world's greatest names.

Delhi Capitals Leadership Change-Is a New Captain in the Works?

With the auction realignment teams in the IPL, Delhi Capitals are in a pickle. The team has yet to announce its skipper for season 2025, and that left everyone in suspense about who the skipper would be. Rishabh Pant was the team skipper before, but wicketkeeper-batsman phenomenon had a new address in the shape of Lucknow SuperGiants through the auction. That leaves the leadership void to be filled ahead of the beginning of the new season.

One of the strong contenders for the captaincy job is Axar Patel, franchise's retained all-rounder. Patel is the experience and form pick. There is another option with the management in KL Rahul as well, who carries a treasure trove of captaincy experience in his back pocket with him having led Punjab Kings, Lucknow SuperGiants, and even India in recent times. It is a toss-up between the new skipper who leans both ways equally, adding another twist to Delhi Capitals' IPL season.

Vizag Enters the Club of Top Non-Traditional IPL Venues

Visakhapatnam is one of the three away camps in the current IPL calendar schedule, the other two being Guwahati and Dharamsala. Guwahati has been Rajasthan Royals' away base from where they play two consecutive games on March 26 and March 30 against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings respectively. Punjab Kings also have three of their ten matches to be held in Dharamsala, reports say, against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Chennai Super Kings.

This strategic positioning of the other grounds is intended to extend even further the reach of the IPL, such that the rest of the world can see the excitement of the league's atmosphere for themselves. The move is also following on the expansion of the franchise into new cricketing zones in India.

A Grand Opening and an Action-Packed Season Ahead

IPL 2025 starts with a blockbuster season-opener between last year's champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22 at Eden Gardens, sources found. The excitement follows a day after last season's runner-up SunRisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals in a day game at Hyderabad on March 23.

The tournament will once more have the classic double round-robin group and play-offs format. Jumping-for-joy fans will see edge-of-the-seat thrillers, firecracker derbies, and showman-like performances by cricket idols. The last day of the tournament will be May 25, the last grand finale arranged at Kolkata's legendary Eden Gardens.

Delhi Capitals dreams of IPL 2025

The Delhi Capitals, owned by the GMR Group, will be looking to make their presence known in IPL 2025. With a new team, new skipper, and their die-hard fans rallying behind them, the franchise will be looking to begin their campaign on a good note in Vizag. The cricket mania fans of the city will definitely provide the franchise with an electrically charged atmosphere, and the franchise will be home away from home.

Even though the countdown for IPL schedule announcement had not yet started, this much is sure—Visakhapatnam and the cricket fans in India will once again experience an adrenaline-packed season of the world's most beloved T20 league.
