West Indies Stars Return to T20I Action vs England After IPL Retention
The series opener will be held at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados on November 9, with Rovman Powell leading the 15-man squad.
Following their recent retention by IPL franchises, West Indies stars Akeal Hosein, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, and Andre Russell are back in the squad for the first two games of the T20I series against England. These players, who missed the tour against Sri Lanka for personal reasons, bring renewed depth and experience to the squad chosen by Cricket West Indies (CWI). The series opener will be held at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados on November 9, with Rovman Powell leading the 15-man squad.
Medium pacer Matthew Forde, who was recently named Player of the Series in the ODI series against England, replaces Alzarri Joseph, who is serving a two-match suspension. CWI will announce the squad for the remaining matches in Saint Lucia in the coming days.
The five-match T20I series will begin with two back-to-back games in Barbados on November 9 and 10, then continue to Saint Lucia for the final three matches on November 14, 16, and 17. The West Indies have shown strong form at home, going unbeaten in four consecutive T20I series since 2023, which has bolstered their position in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings. This series presents a key opportunity to build on their success, and Head Coach Daren Sammy has voiced his optimism for consecutive series wins against England.
