Wolves' Tipping Point Must Arrive Soon - O'Neil

Wolverhampton Wanderers are still searching for their first win of the Premier League season, currently sitting at the bottom of the table with just one point from seven matches. Following a disappointing 5-3 defeat to Brentford in their last outing, manager Gary O'Neil emphasizes that the team cannot continue to rely on excuses and that time is running out to secure results.

As they prepare to host second-placed Manchester City on Sunday, O'Neil acknowledges the challenges his team has faced, having already played five of the league's top seven teams. By the time they face Brighton next week, they will have completed a tough opening schedule against all the top sides.

Wolves have dealt with significant losses in their squad, including the summer departures of captain Max Kilman and forward Pedro Neto, along with a season-ending injury to defender Yerson Mosquera, suffered during a match against Aston Villa last month. Despite these setbacks, O'Neil recognizes that the time for excuses is over.

"I understand that one point from seven isn't good enough, and we need to prove we are better than that," O'Neil stated. "That tipping point will come soon. We can't sit here forever saying we've had tough games and lost a couple of important players in the summer. Now what? Come on then, let's go. At some point, it's going to come, and we need to get it going."

The Wolves have also struggled defensively, conceding 21 goals—the most in the league. O'Neil will also be without forward Hwang Hee-chan for at least two weeks due to an ankle injury sustained while on international duty with South Korea.

"It would be unrealistic of me to think everyone outside of here will have a real detailed look at how we played and the numbers," O'Neil continued. "Look at the league table; we've got one point from seven, and everyone starts panicking, which would be the reaction I would expect outside of here. Points-wise, it has been very bad."

Despite the dire situation, O'Neil maintains his confidence in the team's ability to turn things around. "I have 100% faith that myself and the playing group will show everyone we are more than capable of competing at this level, but the longer it goes on, the more urgent it becomes."
