Zimbabwe to Host Afghanistan for Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests
Afghanistan’s tour will kick off with a series of white-ball matches in Harare, including three T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals, before the teams move to Bulawayo for the Test series.
Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have confirmed that they will compete in two Test matches in Bulawayo, with the first match scheduled to begin on Boxing Day, December 26, and the second Test starting on January 2, 2025. This announcement marks a significant occasion, as it will be the first Boxing Day Test held in Zimbabwe in 28 years, a traditional event celebrated in many southern hemisphere cricketing nations.

We look forward to celebrating one of the sport's finest traditions,” he stated. Mukuhlani also highlighted the intention to showcase a full tour experience, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to improving cricket in Zimbabwe.
Mirwais Ashraf, chief of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, acknowledged the importance of the tour for his team. “The all-format tour to Zimbabwe is a significant event for us. We have a rich history with Zimbabwe, and playing there has always posed challenges, but I believe the Afghan Atalan can confidently rise to this challenge,” he said. Historically, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe have faced each other in two Tests, with both sides having won one match each.
